Slonim is slated to act in and produce a play titled 'Date My Jewish Friend Play', and is hosting a party of the same name (as a fundraiser for the play) on May 20, where people are required to bring a member of the opposite sex. A Jackie Mason impersonator will flirt with the females.

Slonim said it was through a friend that she found her boyfriend. "For people that might be a little shy, when you have friends that vouch for you it definitely gives you a boost of confidence," she said.”

Date My Jewish Friend Extravaganza - Coming This February!

The script of Date My Jewish Friend Play will be inspired by an improvisational rehearsal where six actors will improv various scenarios at a singles party. The rehearsal will be recorded and transcribed.

The writer will then have four weeks to flesh out a script based upon the improv. We will then put the show up at an off-broadway cabaret venue.

I hosted a "date my friend" party where all guests brought a friend of the opposite sex and introduced them around the room. I thought it would be a casual event, but over 80 people attended and several friends found boyfriends/girlfriends. The event was such a success people often asked me when the next one was. This play would be a continuation of the original date my friend party, but with a theatrical element.

The theatrical process of the play was inspired by one of my favorite quotes heard during the high holidays: "life is a journey, not a destination." It's important to value the process as well as the result, therefore, the rehearsals and development of Date my Jewish Friend Play will be as important to the show as the final performances. The script will develop from improv the actors create based on their characters and scenarios as provided by the director. After each rehearsal the writer, director, and executive producer will discuss what improvs were most interesting and why and then the writer will use the best ideas to draft the play. Audiences will be invited to staged readings and provide input as the work is being created.
